Yoga For Spiritual Growth
The prime requirement of practice for anyone wishing to realize their spiritual nature is to learn how to calm the mind and then to experience transcending that mind to awaken to a new reality beyond the mind. No mind stuff, no sensory input, just the pure awareness of consciousness. A state of I AM beyond the state of mind-consciousness. It takes regular practice over a long period of time and there is no other way to achieve this as the practice must be done by the aspirant. (Our teacher Dr Rao likened the highest state as being like NY City and often mentioned you had to make the trip yourself to realize that state in NY City. No one else can do it for you: you cannot pay someone to go there and achieve that stste for you: you must do your own practice.
To help the seeker find the way we start with The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali who teaches about the nature of the mind: Samkhya Yoga is taught to enhance one’s knowledge of the mind. Upanishads are taught for the Vedic contribution while Baghavad Gita is discussed for it’s many valuable insights into the nature of reality and the clues it provides.
Do your practice and all will come.
